Eight posts are reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD): 2 for blindness and low vision, 2 for deaf and hard of hearing, 1 for locomotor disability, and 3 for autism, intellectual disability, learning disability, mental illness or multiple disabilities. Delhi APP Eligibility
- Citizenship: Indian citizen. Nepal and Bhutan subjects, Tibetan refugees who arrived before 1 January 1962, and certain persons of Indian origin need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
- Education: Law degree from a recognised university or institute.
- Experience: Three years at the Bar. Government advocate experience is desirable and can help shortlisting.
- Cut-off date: Eligibility is judged as on 2 October 2026.

Other relaxations: ex-servicemen get 5 years. Regular Central or UT government servants can get up to 5 years, with 3 years of continuous relevant service. Contractual employees of the department get a one-time relaxation of up to 5 years if they have worked at least 180 days.
Application Fee
The fee is ₹25, payable by card, UPI or net banking. Women, SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay nothing. Male OBC, EWS and UR candidates must pay in full. The fee is non-refundable, and applications without it are rejected.

Documents to keep ready: Class 10 certificate for date of birth, law degree, experience certificate in the prescribed proforma, caste certificate, OBC non-creamy layer declaration, PwBD certificate, and any age relaxation certificate. Do not upload pay slips, resumes, appointment letters or unsigned certificates. Part-time, daily-wage or visiting experience is not counted. Upload a live photo, sign three times in black ink on white paper, and give one photo ID (Aadhaar is advised).
Once submitted, the form cannot be withdrawn or corrected, and the date of birth entered is final. Apply by 1 October.
Selection Process
If applications are numerous, UPSC may shortlist on desirable qualifications, higher education, longer experience, or a Recruitment Test. The interview carries 100 marks, and the minimum is 50 for UR, 45 for OBC and 40 for SC, ST and PwBD. Test centres, if used, include Delhi and Lucknow. The syllabus is not fixed, so revise BNS, BNSS, BSA and procedure. Bring the printout, originals and self-attested copies to the interview.
Duties
An APP conducts cases in the Metropolitan Magistrates’ courts for the Delhi Government, advises the police in criminal cases, maintains records of pending criminal cases, and may teach law.

False claims or forged documents can lead to rejection and debarment by UPSC, plus prosecution for cheating (BNS Section 318) and forgery (BNS Section 336).
